 SANDF Seizes Illicit Cigarettes and Alcohol Worth Nearly R700,000 at Beitbridge Border *MUSINA, LIMPOPO* – Members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) deployed under *Operation Corona* have confiscated illicit cigarettes and alcoholic beverages with a combined value of nearly *R700,000* during anti-smuggling operations at the Beitbridge Border Post in Limpopo. The operation, conducted on *Sunday, 26 July*, targeted the illegal movement of contraband across the country's busiest land border in the Vhembe District. According to the SANDF, soldiers intercepted suspects believed to be transporting illicit goods into South Africa. However, upon noticing the approaching troops, the suspects abandoned their cargo and fled the scene on foot, evading arrest. A search of the abandoned goods resulted in the seizure of illicit cigarettes valued at *R534,531*.
