Phophi Ramathuba Calls for Unity and Service at Nelson Mandela Legacy Celebration Rally

THOHOYANDOU, LIMPOPO – Limpopo ANC Chairperson and Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba delivered a powerful keynote address at the Nelson Mandela Legacy Celebration Rally held at Makwarela Stadium in Thohoyandou on Saturday, where she called on South Africans to uphold the values of unity, selfless service, and community development championed by the late former President Nelson Mandela.

Thousands of ANC members, alliance partners, community leaders, traditional leaders, youth, and residents from across the Vhembe District gathered at the stadium to commemorate Mandela's enduring legacy and reflect on his lifelong commitment to justice, equality, and nation-building.

Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Ramathuba urged citizens to honour Mandela's memory not only through annual celebrations but by embracing the spirit of compassion, hard work, and active participation in building stronger communities.

She emphasized that Mandela's vision of a united, democratic South Africa remains relevant today, encouraging South Africans to work together in addressing challenges such as unemployment, poverty, crime, and inequality.

Ramathuba also highlighted the progress made by the democratic government in improving the lives of citizens while acknowledging that more work remains to ensure inclusive economic growth and improved service delivery. She called on communities to partner with government in protecting public infrastructure, promoting social cohesion, and creating opportunities for young people.

"The greatest tribute we can pay to Tata Nelson Mandela is to continue serving our people with integrity, humility, and dedication," she said, urging public servants and political leaders to place the needs of communities above personal interests.
