Nampo Harvest Day 2025
Bothaville: Grain SA and the NAMPO management team would like to reassure all exhibitors, guests, and partners that the 2025 NAMPO Harvest Day will take place at NAMPO Park on May 13–16, 2025, as planned, despite weeks of intense rain in Bothaville and the surrounding areas. Some areas of the showgrounds experienced temporary waterlogging due to the heavy rains, which coincided with NAMPO Harvest Day. Clear skies and drying conditions are gradually improving around the site, though, and the return of bright weather over the last two days has already improved everyone's mood.
On Course for a Great Performance
In order to keep the Park tidy and accessible, NAMPO management has responded quickly to the effects of the downpour, sending personnel to remove extra water, enhance surface conditions, and put logistical rules into place where needed. Teams are still working diligently to make sure the grounds are secure, usable, and able to accommodate the hundreds of exhibitors and guests anticipated at this year's event.
Dirk Strydom, Managing Director of NAMPO, states, "We have already taken action to manage the impact of the rain and have been closely monitoring the situation." "With the return of bright weather, preparations are going smoothly, and NAMPO 2025 is on schedule to provide the top-notch display that our guests and exhibitors expect.
Improved roadways, drainage systems, and parking lots are just a few of the long-term infrastructure improvements at NAMPO Park that are helping to guarantee the venue's continued operation even during inclement weather.
Priority One Continues to Be the Visitor Experience
Organizers and exhibitors are relieved to see warmer, drier weather again as last-minute preparations continue. From massive equipment displays and international technology showcases to expert conversations and beneficial networking opportunities, the program promises to give the complete NAMPO experience as the countdown to NAMPO 2025 progresses. It continues to be a vital event for the farming community.
Taking a Forward Look
Concerns for Grain Producers Nationwide
Although NAMPO 2025 is progressing as planned, Grain SA expresses worry over the wider effects of heavy rainfall on grain producers in various regions of South Africa. The wet conditions during this crucial harvesting period not only hinder operations but also elevate the risk of crop damage, sprouting, and substantial logistical difficulties for producers attempting to access fields with heavy machinery.
Outside of the fields, damaged infrastructure—such as gravel roads and water crossings—continues to make transport and harvesting more challenging. The situation remains dynamic, and while producers are optimistic for ongoing dry weather to continue harvesting and salvage a portion of the crop, the delays and increased costs pose a significant challenge, especially in a time of economic strain.
We are aware of the challenges that many producers are currently facing on their farms, even as we look forward to welcome the agricultural community to NAMPO Park. Strydom continues, "NAMPO continues to be a platform that celebrates the resilience and adaptability of South Africa's farmers."
