Blogger Musa Khawula Denied Bail Amid Repeat Offenses

Controversial blogger Musa Khawula (33) has once again found himself in the headlines — this time not for celebrity gossip, but for being denied bail in court. The decision was handed down due to Khawula’s repeated failure to comply with previous bail conditions, as well as his alleged involvement in additional offenses while out on bail.

What’s raising eyebrows, though, is the timing and perceived double standards. Social media users are pointing out that Khawula once walked free after being charged with murder, yet now finds himself locked up swiftly after offending a government minister. Many are calling it out as a clear case of selective justice.

Khawula, who’s made a name for himself (and a list of enemies) through his raw, no-holds-barred blogging style, is currently facing multiple criminal charges. His trial is scheduled to begin on 22 May 2025 at the Fochville District Court.

As frustration mounts over what many view as a politically motivated clampdown, some South Africans are describing the situation as another example of the country’s declining legal and political integrity.

“They couldn’t jail him for murder, but they lock him up now because he embarrassed the wrong person? We’re truly living in a junk state,” one user tweeted.

Whether Khawula is guilty or not, the optics surrounding his legal saga are already fueling public debate on justice, power, and hypocrisy in South Africa.
